Childrens book illustration
Let's Play is a vibrant and engaging picture book designed to encourage play, singing, and bonding between young children and their caregivers. Developed as part of Play Matters Australia's Sing&Grow program, the book supports early childhood development through interactive storytelling.
The objective was to create illustrations that resonate with toddlers and preschoolers, making the concept of play both fun and accessible. The design needed to be visually appealing while supporting the book's educational goals.
I employed bold, flat colours and clear, expressive characters to depict various play scenarios, ensuring the illustrations were both visually engaging and developmentally appropriate. The layout was designed to be clean and accessible, with ample white space to support early literacy development.
Let's Play was awarded the 2024 Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Award in the Birth–3 years age category, recognising its contribution to promoting early language and literacy skills development. The book has been well-received by parents and educators for its engaging content and supportive messages. It has been distributed through Play Matters programs and is available for purchase, contributing to the promotion of play-based learning in early childhood.
